Volume 2 Issue 4
"Life in the Valley"

I think I should have named this issue “In the Valley of the Shadow of Death,” but I didn’t want to freak anyone out. There’s really little shadow and the last deaths (that I know of) was when Saddam took over this valley to build a base. So it would have just been a cool title, but I would have had to field numerous questions about its meaning. For those who have been asking for it, here is my address.

This space used to contain my address, but was removed because I don’t know how crazy people really are out there If you want the address just let me know

I know this seems like a shameless attempt to get mail, but people really were asking for it. It takes mail at least 3-4 weeks or more to get here. So keep that in mind if you’re sending anything time sensitive. We also have DHL and just got FedEx, but I don’t have any info on them.

 Job Searching Revisited
--------------------------
This is just a little something I forgot to put in when I did the pervious Help Wanted section. If I ever find the person who coined the phrase "business to business sales" we’re gonna have a full blown throw-down-drag-out. I saw this in numerous job ads while searching online and the newspaper, and had no idea what it meant. Now take a moment and ask yourself what "business to business sales" means to you. At first I was thinking "Well what kind of sales isn’t business to business?" Then I figured that there is also business to consumer sales. Business to business sales is really just a sub section of business to consumer sales, but whatever. Ultimately most of the sales that go on are business to business whether it is selling phone service for business use, selling steel to make car
frames, or even selling business solutions to other businesses. Now take "business to business sales" and replace the two instances of business with door. See what you have now is "door to door sales," which is the true meaning of the phrase. Some "spin doctor" in advertising was probably sitting there thinking, "Man we can’t get people to come apply for this job when we say door to door sales. What the heck are we gonna do to sucker them into wasting their time to come and interview. Yea I know we’ll just mislead them by calling it business to business sales. Yea that’s it, that’s the ticket. Now we’ll get those suckers." So let this be fair warning to ya’ll, if a job says "business to business sales" it’s door to door. Sometimes it’s telemarketing, but nothing that really sounds fun to me. You know we used to have a different phrase for "spin doctors" too. That phrase was Propaganda Machine, but that’s another topic. My favorite experience was when I showed up at 1:00 for a 1:00 interview, mainly because traffic was worse than I expected. I specifically asked the recruiter that set me up on it if I need to get there early for anything and he said no. So anyway I got there at 1 and there was no one at the front desk, so I took a seat on the couch and waited. Finally someone walked by and I grabbed them and told them who I was there to see. They went and got the guy and he had me fill out an application. An application like I working at Mc Donald’s or something. Considering I already emailed him my resume and had a hard copy on the ready, I thought it was a terrible waste of time. So after having to flag someone down to great me and filling out this application it’s like 1:30. I go into the interview with this Tool and after he tells me what it’s all about it’s Q and A time. He has the audacity to tell me the importance of being one time to future interviews. Anyone who’s lived in Houston more than 5 min knows that traffic is unpredictable and even with planning ahead it’s still possible to be late. I was already pissed that I had gotten dressed up and wasted an afternoon for another door to door sales job, and this was almost the last straw. I decided to keep my mouth shut in case I need the recruiter in the future (not likely). I thanked him for his time (cursed him in my head) and high tailed it
